To maintain a healthy weight and promote heart health, avoid the obvious culprits such as fried foods and burgers (and other fatty meats such as pork, bacon, ham, salami, ribs and sausage).
Dairy products such as cheese, (including cottage cheese), and milk should be consumed in low-fat versions. Nuts, sandwich meats, mayonnaise, margarine, butter and sauces should be eaten in limited quantities.
Whenever possible, seek out lower fat alternatives such as substitute butter, fat-free salad dressings, and fat-free mayonnaise.

The Spectrim Program at Brotman Medical Center is a comprehensive program designed especially for people with 100 pounds or more to lose. It's probably different from anything you've tried before because it includes surgery as a treatment for your weight related issues.
After a patient has received medical, psychological and nutritional evaluations, we use medically accepted procedures recognized by the National Institutes of Health, including the laparoscopic Roux-En-Y gastric bypass surgery for life altering results. Studies have shown that this surgery is the most effective procedure for long-term weight loss. It offers patients a shorter stay in the hospital, quicker recovery time, and less pain and scarring compared to open surgical procedures.
At Spectrim, a patient may expect to lose 30 to 40 pounds in the first 6 weeks after surgery, then may go on to lose a total of 100 pounds or more within 9 to 12 months. Needless to say, that kind of weight loss can have a major impact on your life. It can help you look and feel better, and increase your self-confidence. In fact, it may be the start of a whole new life for you.
The staff at Spectrim is committed to making you as comfortable as possible with your decision to pursue gastric bypass surgery. If you would like additional information regarding our program, please call us at (888)-TRIM-911 (888-874-6911).
